Pill testing at Australian music festivals – Yes or No? – your say.

I first thought here we go, ‘if you can’t beat them, join them’. I almost rejected it outright, viewing drug testing as a green light to those who risk killing themselves for a good time.

I thought about it and read a little and to my surprise, as a dad, agreed with the idea. And, unlikely but possibly, it might be my kid saved at a concert.

Pill Testing Vs Russian Roulette

Having said that, I am against taking drugs. You should be able to enjoy yourself without them. The next concert could be your last. Not cool for you or those left behind. Russian Roulette with pills.

In 2013, I wrote about a death at the Defqon 1 Music Festival at Penrith. One guy (a user) commented that if drug takers kill themselves then so be it. He knew his stuff and wasn’t at risk. He called their fate ‘darwinism’. A pretty cold summation. Below are some links to opinions on free pill testing. Some comments are strangely scary eg; ‘a good, reliable drug dealer’.

It is somewhat paradoxical that sound reasoning is given by users to support free pill testing to prevent themselves from harm. The harm arising from their own actions in the first place.

Anyway, perhaps you’d like to say Yes, No or Maybe. Perhaps you have an opinion you’d like to give. If so, feel free to hit a button or leave a comment. You might be first.

Word for today:        Paradoxical – If something is paradoxical, it involves two facts or qualities which seem to contradict each other.
