You are my sunshine – by Korby Lenker and Marion Grace.

What a little gem, short and sweet.

I went looking after watching a Katy Perry clip (The one that got away) which played ‘You are my sunshine’ near the end.

Lyrics:   The couple above sing their own clipped version and elsewhere lyrics tend to vary a little by site and artist.

The other night dear, as I lay sleeping
I dreamed I held you in my arms
When I awoke dear, I was mistaken
So I bowed my head and I cried

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy when skies are grey
You’ll never know dear, how much I love you
Please don’t take my sunshine away

I’ll always love you and make you happy
If you will only say the same
But if you leave me and love another
You’ll regret it all some day

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy when skies are gray
You’ll never know dear, how much I love you
Please don’t take my sunshine away

You told me once dear, you really loved me
And no one else could come between
But now you’ve left me and love another
You have shattered all of my dreams

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy when skies are gray
You’ll never know dear, how much I love you
Please don’t take my sunshine away

Words for today;    Lyrics. I only knew the verse.

  1. I’m listening to this song, going all misty eyed, and my granddaughter who was concentrating on her toast gave me The Look, so I plugged my earphones in. You are perhaps familiar with The Look,Bruce?

    • The look from another dimension Mary? Yes. Did your granddaughter recognize the song?

  2. Not much hope. One direction is what she recognises Bruce. We’re thankfully off Lady Gaga, who suits her name.

    • Lady Gaga? How old is your granddaughter Mary? Oh, and I’m glad you had a misty eyed moment, hopefully a happy one.
