I’ll have what she’s having – a right Royal perk for Kate Middleton.

Sometimes it’s the simple things in life that are often the best; or worst and really annoying. Take parking fees and fines for example. You park your car, pay the fee and all is sweet. If you don’t pay the fee, then you have a bad day, unless of course you are Kate Middleton.

And this is one of those things that can be really annoying. Okay, so Kate Middleton was marrying into royalty. Good for her and she seems a nice kind of sheila.

But pay the parking fee. Her minders who spent so much time stopping the traffic warden from doing his job (was that legal?) could have paid the fee and claimed expenses later.

Too bad for the ordinary folk though. Maybe running late, a tough day at work, maybe lost your job today, screaming kids in car, tooth-ache and heading for dentist, away longer than the allowed parking time, clean forgot the time; all those usual things which get you a parking fine.

And you do. You return to your iron steed only to find a parking copper writing out that ticket, or perhaps it’s stuck behind your wiper blade, the author long gone or standing behind the nearest building or truck.

I think from now on though, if Kate Middleton could avoid a parking fine while she shopped at the Peter Jones store in Chelsea, then legally that’s good enough for everyone else. A slight digression here; is the Peter Jones store a relative of David Jones stores here in Aus?

Courts shouldn’t blame an offender for presenting every bit of media documentation on this incident if they ever copped a parking fine. Unless, of course, it was legal for Kate Middleton to not pay the parking fee.

No doubt the very traffic wardens in this story had already booked some peasants who broke the rules before Kate Middleton arrived, and continued booking others less privileged and wealthy after she left. Just doesn’t sit right.

Word for today: Privileged: Not subject to the usual rules or penalties.

More to come: same blog time, same blog channel.
